Honeywell’s Lyric system is a smart way to protect your home and family. But if the alarm sounds, do you know what to do? Honeywell has step by step instructions about what to do in case the alarm is triggered. Click to watch the video below, or check out our summary below:

If the Lyric Controller alarm is triggered, the home screen will indicate that it is in an alarm state:

Your first step should be to access the situation and get yourself and your family to safety. If the situation is under control, simply enter your 4 digit user code to stop the alarm.

You should, at this point, expect to receive a phone call from your service provider. When requested, please give the operator the passcode you created when your system was installed.

If you do not answer the phone call, or if an incorrect passcode is given to the operator, the operator will notify the authorities.

If everything is okay, please stay on the phone with the operator to verify your situation. After the correct passcode is acknowledged, you can reset your system with the help of the operator.

You can find out what triggered the alarm by looking at the Lyric home screen. This could be due to motion in the home or an open window or door.

You can enter your user code to reset the system.

A home alarm system is one of the best deterrents to burglary in your home. Many criminals have admitted that if they know a home is protected by a home alarm system, they will not attempt to break in. Keep your family and home safe the smart way - with a home alarm system.

With millions of burglaries reported in the United States, it is easy to see that homeowners have a lot of work to do to in making their homes secure. While installing a home security system is one of the best things you can do to protect your home and your family, there are additional measures you can take to deter burglars from breaking into your home.

Some of the most effective ways to deter burglars are some of the most obvious, but also easy to overlook and forget:

  • home protection Los Angeles burglarEnsure everyone in the family closes and locks the garage door each time it is used
  • Lock your doors and windows, even if you are just working in the yard. For example, lock the front door if you are working in the back yard.
  • Even if you are taking a quick trip to the store, arm your alarm system.
  • Don’t leave a spare house key in typical hidden places; burglars know where to look! Instead, give your key to a trusted neighbor.
  • Lock your upstairs windows and balcony doors. Just because these entry points are above the ground does not mean they are off limits to a burglar. All it takes is a ladder to reach them!
  • If you have window air conditioners, secure them against burglars. Click here for a helpful, step by step guide on how to burglar-proof a window air conditioner.
  • If you have cat or dog doors, secure them. These doors can provide a way into your home for burglars.
  • Take a look at your entry doors. Is there glass around the door knob area? If so, this creates an easy entry for burglars. All they have to do is smash the glass around the knob, reach in and unlock the door and let themselves in.

Use these tips to further secure your home against burglars.

Having a business security system installed is a smart way to protect you, your employees, your assets and your clients. And though you rely on it for safety, it is probably not something that you think about daily. It is easy to become somewhat complacent about your security system.

How often do you check your system to ensure it is working properly? If you are relying on it for protection but fail to maintain it regularly, it could malfunction without you knowing it. And this could leave you in a vulnerable position, as businesses without working security systems are easier to burglarize than those with functioning systems. It does not take very long to do a quick check of your business security system components, but it could mean the difference between being the victim of crime or not.

Next, check your motion detectors. A power outage or power surge can damage motion detectors. Testing these is easy: simply create motion in front of them to make sure the system registers the activity.

Your alarm system may not be functioning correctly. If someone has recently played around with your system, the settings may be off. Or perhaps the entire system was unplugged due to contractor work in your office. Check the system to ensure the settings are correct, power is getting to your system and that it is functioning as expected.

Finally, your security lights need attention. If you primarily work during the day, you may not ever be around in the evening to ensure they are coming on at dusk or to ensure that all the bulbs are working. It is a good idea to stay late occasionally to make sure all your security lights are in good working order.
