Every day, an average of over 200 fires happen in workplaces in the United States, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). 1

That is why it is critical to have a fire safety program for workplace fire emergencies.

Here are a few tips from the USDA for workplace fire prevention.  To see the whole list, click here.

  1. Commercial fire system southern californiaEliminate Fire Hazards:  Keep workplaces free of waste paper and other combustibles, have damaged electrical cords replaced and do not over load circuits.
  2. Prepare for Emergencies:  Make sure you know who to call in an emergency; participate in all drills.
  3. Report Fires and Emergencies promptly:  Immediately report all foul odors or defective equipment to the Building Manager or Security.  If a fire is detected pull the fire alarm station to sound the alarm.
  4. Evacuate safely:  Leave the area quickly in an emergency; use stairs instead of the elevator.  Assist your coworkers.

In this fact sheet, OSHA points out that if you expect your workers to use firefighting equipment, they should be trained on how to use it.  Therefore, if you have fire extinguishers in your office (and you should!), it is important to take time to make sure all your employees know how to use them.

But no matter how careful you are, fires can happen.  The best protection you can offer yourself and your employees is with a monitored fire alarm system.  When you invest in an integrated fire alarm system, you have the best of all worlds because you are protected from burglary and from fire, all within the same, easy-to-use state-of-the-art Honeywell system.

Whatever you store in your garage (bikes, your car, the Christmas tree or your deep freezer), one thing is certain:  burglars want to break in and steal from you. Lucky for the burglars but not for you, garages can be one of the easiest areas of your house to invade.

Your first line of defense is to install a Honeywell home alarm system.  This system will alert you and your monitoring company in the event of a break-in.  With sensors on the garage door and all windows, a burglar simply will not make it into your garage without you knowing it.

There are some other things you can do to prevent a garage break-in.  Do not leave your garage door open.  This may sound obvious, but crooks love crimes of opportunity.  Consider this:  you are watering flowers in the back yard and you leave the garage door open after you remove the hose.  After all – how long does it take to water flowers?  How long?  Long enough for an opportunist thief to slip in.

It is also a good idea to put a deadbolt on the door leading into your house from the garage.  That way, if a thief does make it into your garage, he will have a hard time actually making it into your house.

Finally, do not leave your garage door opener in your car.  Ever.  If a thief breaks into your car, he will have access to your home.  Consider keeping it in your pocket, your purse or on a keychain.

Video surveillance is the perfect way to make childcare centers secure.  Working parents need to be assured that their children are safe while in the care of daycares and early childhood education centers.  Digital video surveillance systems will enhance your daycare security, keeping children protected and bringing peace of mind to parents.

commercial security San DiegoBut it’s not just the children in your care that need protection.  Your employees also deserve the protection that video surveillance brings, in the event that they are wrongfully accused.  The recording from the camera can provide credible defense and evidence.

It’s a win-win situation for everyone:  video surveillance camera systems will:

  • Bring safety to children
  • Ease parents’ minds
  • Provide video playback for disputes
  • Keep employees safe

And for even more peace of mind for parents, consider adding in remote monitoring.  With an internet connection, parents can check in on their children at any time.  Whether they are using their smartphone at lunch, a tablet during a meeting or their computer in their office, parents will love having the ability to know that their children are safe and well provided for. It’s the perfect way to modernize your daycare security and outperform your competition!

Using on-demand video surveillance in your daycare or early childhood education center provides you with a smart marketing strategy as well.  Advertising that you monitor children, staff and visitors will make your center highly sought after by conscientious parents.
