As a business owner, you know firsthand the threat shoplifters pose against your business. Retailers lost a staggering $44 billion in 2014 due to shoplifting.1

Why is so much money lost to shoplifters? Shoplifting is an easy way for people to steal from you. They have open access to large amounts of inventory, and you and your employees can only watch so many people at once, while also doing your jobs.

And while there are some common traits that can help you identify a shoplifter (for example – they are watching staff more than they are looking at merchandise, they stay in obscure areas of the store and they avoid eye contact), not all shoplifters are easy to spot.

You can, however, do a lot to protect your business from loss due to shoplifters. Here are some tips:

2. Install convex mirrors in your store. These mirrors will aid you and your employees in seeing corners and aisles more easily.

3. Hire a greeter. Having someone to greet visitors as they come in can reduce shoplifting. Walmart discovered that shoplifting was reduced by as much as 35% when they had greeters.2 This same person can be tasked to speak to customers on their way out of your store as well. Some stores are now having the customer present their receipt to the greeter. This dual contact with an employee can be a powerful deterrent against shoplifting.

4. Station attendants at dressing rooms. If your business has dressing rooms, hire attendants to monitor the number of garments that customers take into and out of the dressing rooms.

You have invested time, money and energy into your business, so it makes sense to do whatever it takes to safeguard your investment. A robust business security system must include video surveillance.

Video surveillance allows you to capture in real time what is going on inside and outside your business. This footage can drastically reduce the damage done to your business by intruders or unexpected environmental events. It can also increase the likelihood that intruders will be recognized and arrested.

Honeywell’s Performance Series cameras records in high-resolution images in both low and strong light, making it ideal for both night and day monitoring. You can set the camera to turn on the infrared LEDs to activate when the light drops to a certain level. During the day, your Performance Series camera will take vivid color pictures. At night, the camera will record in clear black and white.

The Performance Series cameras are also vandal resistant, making them especially useful in high crime areas, where intruders may be tempted to destroy the camera. And because they are available in both indoor and outdoor models, you can use them cameras all around your business.

These cameras can be mounted on walls or ceilings, making them adaptable to various building configurations. They also come with 3 axis rotation. The easy installation combined with the low power consumption of these cameras (they contain flexible dual voltage options) make this a smart choice for business owners who are serious about protecting their business investments.

If you already have a security system installed in your business, these cost-effective cameras may require no additional rewiring. They are compact, consist of just one piece and install quickly and easily.

Home security Los Angeles skybellHoneywell has taken the humble doorbell to a whole new level. Because you want to protect what matters most, anything you can do to improve your home security is important. The SkyBell Video Doorbell turns the doorbell into a major, high-tech addition to your home security system.

No matter where you are in the world, you can keep an eye on your home with the SkyBell.

How it works:

When someone comes to your door, the SkyBell can alert you of their presence, and they do not even have to ring the doorbell to trigger the alert! The SkyBell will send high-definition video as well as audio to your iPhone or iPad. You may then have a conversation with the visitor, via SkyBell and your device.

SkyBell also has full color night vision. This means even if you have a visitor after dark, you will still be able to view the video of the visitor in color HD. And since SkyBell is an outdoor component of your home security system, Honeywell has made it tough enough to withstand harsh weather conditions. SkyBell functions fine in temperature extremes between -40 degrees F to 140 degrees F.

There are other features of SkyBell that make it convenient to use. SkyBell is always turned on, so whether someone is at your door or not, you can turn on a live video feed anytime you want. This is great for those times you are away from home and want to check in to see how things are going in your absence.

Finally, with SkyBell, you can turn off the indoor chime and instead receive alerts and notifications on your iPhone or iPad. This is perfect for when others are sleeping in your home or do not want to be bothered by the sound of the doorbell.

We would love to schedule a consultation with you, to help you determine what is best for your home security needs. Give us a call at 1-800–988–2378 or send us an email at sales@bestsecurityproducts.com
